    Position Overview

    The Sr. Operations Technology Specialist is a senior business to business technology driver responsible for our technology platforms and in particular, sourcing and managing Coinamatics technology solutions in the contactless devices arena. This business leader will leverage his/her experience in technology with demonstrated business development knowledge for the organization. This is a key systems integrator who can merge our diverse existing technology with new technology under the Coinamatic infrastructure in order to bring Coinamatic to the next level in bonding and retaining our clients. Responsible for product development interface, this position is a key liaison with suppliers, vendors and OEMs. This position is also responsible for research, development, design, testing and implementation of technological deliverables across the country.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Researching, specifying, verifying and recommending to the Coinamatic Executive, technological functionality for new products.
      • Constantly research and maintain a current knowledge of (non-) competitor activities within the industry in products, operations and service then provide this market intelligence to executives. A leader in identifying SmartCard technological developments and new markets.
      • Design and detail specifications of a contactless card solution for vending and integrated single door access control systems.
      • Modeling functionality and specifications for extended smartcard applications and advanced parking applications for better competitive advantage.
    2. Sourcing, negotiating new alliances with suppliers, vendors and OEMs
    3. Developing functional and technical specifications for new products to satisfy business model needs.
      • Manage vendor deliverables and schedules.
    4. Conduct all project and vendor management programs - Oversee and manage technical projects, field rollouts of key technological programs and products.
      • Handle communication of field implementations from start to finish
    5. Developing criteria to assess and test technological performance against corporate objectives and Client satisfaction targets. Regularly review and report on technology performance against corporate targets, budgets and objectives.
      • Preparing test plans and managing programs to accredit new products
    6. Monitor capital project expenses, and be responsible for planning and implementing operational projects in the most cost-effective manner.
    7. Establish
      • quality control standards and procedures
      • project schedules
      • conduct analyses of program productivity, efficiency and effectiveness, and make recommendations of appropriate human and physical resource allocations.
      • Maintain contracts with external contractors & suppliers while ensuring adherence to appropriate contract specifications and governmental compliance.
    8. Operational Excellence - provides direction and guidance for implementation of Best Practices processes as they pertain to technological support.
    9. Meeting operational objectives and budget guidelines.

    Qualifications Required:

    • The candidate must be a lateral thinker, innovator and have a high level of competitive intelligence.
    • Is articulate with very strong written and verbal communication skills and is able to impart knowledge through teaching, coaching, and training techniques. Able to write functional specifications for suppliers.
    • Candidates possess project and vendor management skills and solid critical reasoning skills. Experience in sourcing hardware vendors and software programmers and management of same.
    • Has an excellent and demonstrated ability to deal with people and can build trust and confidence with management, suppliers, employees, and Clients at all levels.
    • The candidate is required to have demonstrated;
      • Systems Integration experience with diverse software/hardware/firmware applications,
      • specific knowledge in electronics, NFC or RFID device technology,
      • Integrated Circuits,
      • SmartCard PDA and Hardware,
      • Familiarity with IC chips: sourcing; mapping; security schemes
      • Software, Middleware and Firmware experience with a focus on Contactless applications and technology.
    • The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 to 10 years in a technology based service industry/hardware and firmware technology company.
    • Possesses a successfully demonstrated background in product development, testing and launching professional technical program deliverables.
    • The successful individual will have a self confident and flexible manner in dealing with people; with an underlying results and goal orientation. Must be a self-starter who leads by example and is respected by peers and management personnel for initiative and quality of work.
    • Possession of a Technology Diploma or electronic engineering degree required. Excellent P.C. skills and analytical abilities are a must.





    Smart Card Specialist

    What are we looking for?

    Vodafone Group is currently looking for an enthusiastic, creative Smart Card Specialist to join our R&D department located at the Vodafone Netherlands office in Maastricht.

    The right candidate is able to gather and develop knowledge in the area of Smart Cards, will be acknowledged as an expert on Smart Cards within Vodafone and will be asked for advise and input mainly within Vodafone Group R&D. The smart cards specialist identifies, researches and develops potential applications for the future Vodafone business that can be enabled by the SIM.     What do we expect from you?

    1. Knowledge gathering
    Gather and develop knowledge in the area of Smart Card and apply this knowledge in research projects (applied research).
    Perform technology trend watching and analysis
    Identify new application opportunities for Vodafone

    2. Technology Creation
    Identify and develop Smart Cards related technology components required for application development projects
    Create new Smart Cards related technologies (or adapt existing technologies) where needed to fulfill specific needs for new applications.
    Influence technology standards required to support new applications and to make sure that future Vodafone requirements are supported in standards.
    Create IPR for Vodafone in the area of Smart Cards

    3. Prototype development
    Develop prototype applications for Vodafone

    4. Co-operation with internal and external parties
    Work in close co-operation with smart card manufacturers and Vodafone Operators to make sure that the work is aligned with external developments and future Vodafone/customer requirements.
    Maintain contacts with universities and research institutes to keep up-to-date with developments in fundamental research.
    Maintain contacts with Smart Cards specialists within the industry 

    5.  Project leadership
    Lead Smart Cards application development projects

    6.   Communication and Knowledge sharing
    Pro-actively communicate and transfer project results  to the Vodafone operators and other global departments by means of reports, presentations, publications and prototypes.
    Advise and influence the Vodafone Group and Vodafone Operators on the role of Smart Cards.
    Provide Smart Cards expertise in research programmes (including delivery beyond traditional mobile applications).

    Education& Experience

    Education:
    High School/Technical University Telecommunications or related directions

    Experience:
    - At least 4 years of technical experience in the area of Smart cards (SIMs).
    - Experience with application development environments and the development of Smart Card (prototype) applications.

    Desirable:
    - Experience in telecommunications and/or mobile communication.
    - Experience in a research environment.
    - Experience on emerging internet technologies
    - Experience in standardization
